Farm to table at the Post Lermoos
Own farming and hunting: chef Thomas Strasser uses the home advantage for outstanding cuisine.
“Life is too short to drink bad wine.” This saying is attributed to a former guest of the Genießerhotel Post Lermoos: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe resided in the historic house, as did King Ludwig II and Andreas Hofer. The history of the house goes back The wine tradition dates back to the 15th century, but it is not known what the wine selection was like in Goethe’s time. Today, however, there is no need to worry about the wine expertise in the house. Sommelier Almin Begic curates a wine list of dreams with over 1000 positions. However, the wine cellar is by no means a museum – the guests appreciate and love the selection; a high-quality bottle is uncorked at almost every table during the evening menu.
The Post in Lermoos has a very special reputation: among connoisseurs it has been said that the best half board in Austria there should be. And indeed – what chef Thomas Strasser and his team send out of the kitchen here every evening is sensational. The fine dining restaurant is three well-deserved toques The standard of the included evening menus for house guests is in no way inferior. A large proportion of the food comes from own agriculture or from our own hunt. Strasser attaches great importance to processing whole animals and using everything, not just the prime cuts. What cannot be cultivated in-house is purchased from selected partners – from regional farmers or selected dairies.
