Tuftl Alm (1,496 m): On the way along unique paths

The Tuftl Alm, also known as the Lermooser Alm, is majestically situated above Lermoos. It’s not only a popular rest stop on the way to the summit of Daniel, but also an ideal destination for a short yet impressive hike: The Tuftl Alm is easily accessible from our hotel. The hike begins near the train station and takes about 1¼ to 1½ hours, with an elevation gain of approximately 500 meters. The alpine hut offers a selection of traditional dishes and dairy products made right on site. Surrounded by the idyllic Lermooser Moos and the imposing Lechtal Alps, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view. From the cozy hut, you can let your gaze wander over the Zugspitze, the Mieminger Mountains, and the Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze. In addition, the viewing platform is just a few minutes’ walk away. From there, you can also look down on the Lermoos region. Pack your hiking boots and set aside time for this mountain hike. The fascinating mountain landscape at the Tuftl Alm invites you to explore!

Up to the Ehrwalder Alm (1,500 m): Experience pure nature

Nestled amid the enchanting Tyrolean mountains lies the Ehrwalder Alm, a true paradise for nature lovers. The best way to explore this idyllic region is via the picturesque meadow trail. Starting at the valley station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn, this trail takes hikers on a roughly 90-minute walk through a stunning landscape of lush meadows and majestic peaks. Along the way, you’ll pass charming stops like the Ganghofer Hütte before reaching the cozy Ehrwalder Almhütte. Here, you’ll be tempted to linger and enjoy local delicacies. Thanks to the gondola, the Ehrwalder Alm is also suitable for beginners. So nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable excursion into the enchanting mountain world.

Hike to the Grubigstein (2,233 m): Ascent to a Panoramic Paradise

Thanks to its easy accessibility, the Grubigstein is particularly popular with our hotel guests and hikers. To reach the Grubigstein, follow this route: The Grubigstein gondola takes you to the Grubighütte, from where you can reach the summit in about an hour. The trail to the summit passes avalanche fences and is steep, so sure-footedness is required. Once you reach the summit, however, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view. The impressive panoramic view extends all the way to the Wetterstein Mountains, including a stunning vista of the Zugspitze and the Mieminger Kette. You can also let your gaze wander over the ridge of the Gartnerwand and Blindsee. The view of the Gartnerwand ridge and Blindsee is equally captivating. And for good reason: This mountain hike offers magnificent views throughout, especially of the Zugspitze. There are also several places to stop for a bite to eat along the way. Whether for a quick break or lunch—the Grubighütte, Wolfsratshauser Hütte, and Brettlalm look forward to your visit. After the ascent to the Grubigstein, most of the route is downhill. This allows you to enjoy the view to the fullest.

Daniel (2,340 m) and Upsspitze (2,332 m): sporty summit hike

If you want to climb to the summit of Daniel, the highest point in the Ammergau Alps at 2,340 meters, you can expect an additional hiking time of around 2 ½ hours from the Tuftl Alm. The path leads steeply uphill along a picturesque little chapel, winds its way up in a few hairpin bends and finally overcomes the scree terrain to lead you into the idyllic high valley of the majestic Upsspitze. Good news for all summiteers: a second mountain can be climbed on a hike to the Daniel with minimal additional time. As a result, the Upsspitze (2,332 m) expands the panorama and provides a fantastic mountain experience. This sporty mountain tour promises impressive views and a varied route through the Ammergau Alps. The way back to Lermoos station is a steep climb, so surefootedness is required.

Conquering the Zugspitze (2,962 m): An adventure from Ehrwald to the summit and back

This challenging mountain hike begins at the valley station of the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn in Ehrwald. From there, adventurers set off via the Wiener Neustädter Hütte and the demanding “Stopselzieher” via ferrata to the summit of the Zugspitze. After about 4 hours of a demanding ascent, you’ll finally reach your destination—and be rewarded with a breathtaking view. But the descent is no walk in the park either. It begins with a ride on the glacier cable car to “Sonnalpin,” followed by a long hike down to “Gatterl.” From there, the trail leads you along the picturesque southern flank of the Zugspitze massif, past the idyllic alpine pasture and through the charming town of Ehrwald, back to the starting point.
