In only a few minutes and with hardly any noise it takes you up to Germany’s highest mountain.
Germany’s highest mountain is half-Austrian. You can ascend from the Tyrolean side with the Tyrolean Zugspitze Cable Car in Ehrwald.
Within only a few minutes the “sky rider”, as the modern Tyrolean Zugspitze cable car is casually referred to, takes you up nearly 3000 metres above sea level (remarkable 2.962 m). At 10m/sec you soundlessly race towards the peak. The panoramic gondolas give you a great view and overview of the scenic beauty of Bavaria and the Alpine divide.
Once you have arrived at the peak, you can either bask in the sun on the panoramic terrace of the restaurant or, if you are a sports enthusiast, tackle the slopes of the Zugspitzplatt glacier. Experienced alpinists can conquer the peak while families enjoy a scenic walk on the Alpine plateau.
